Anyhow...its been created this way and we cannot do anything about it...so
let it be. Its functional and lets you customize the config a little (if I
am guessing right). There is nothing wrong with the design overall. Perhaps
Olympus had another plan for additional add-ons...forward thinking
perhaps...who knows!

Bad impact to the flash, not the body.
I would guess an OM could easily withstand a bad impact to the body anyway.
