yes, XP2 is tolerant of overexposure. Of course, so is most any C41 film.
Most people find that a bit of overexposure of color negative films produces
a noticable rediction in grain. Unlike color films, however, there is one
pitfall...
As long as you are shooting just for scanning, you will be fine. If you plan
to make traditional wet prints, however, you could be in deep dektol. As you
overexpose XP2, the results become flatter and flatter. Although the
negatives will appear normal, it will take at least one, and likely two
grades higher to print.
It's a fine film. It just requires a bit of experience. But that can be said
of most any film.
