1:1 refers to the image size formed by the lens which isn't too useful for
comparing prints from different formats which will most likely have
different magnification performed during the printing process. Using minimum
field size which was given for the OM Zuikos is more meaningful.

So rather than saying it is a 1:1 macro, say it has a minimum field size of
24mm x 36mm (which tells you nothing about the actual image size and as
follows directly from Waynes observation, nothing about the focal length of
the lens)

What is "effective" magnification ?

The calculation of magnification only involves extension and focal length
not sensor size and the focal length doesn't change when you put the lens on
a different body.
