You would bother if you have apps you need to run, but they only run
under Windows. There is no decent, current gps/mapping software for the
Mac. When my wife and I travel, we use DeLorme's software/hardware
package, and it only runs under Windows.

Now, I can either keep my Thinkpad around to use just when we're in the
car, and carry two separate laptops with me on vacation, or I can run XP
on the MacBook Pro and take one machine that can do both.

The reason I also have it installed under Bootcamp is that there is no
driver for the USB gps puck for the VM, at least not one that works well
without unacceptable latency. So, when we're driving, I boot Lucy (my
MBP) into native XP, and DeLorme's stuff runs like normal.

Otherwise, if I need a Windows app, I fire up Parallels and boot the
Bootcamp partitioin as a VM, turn on Coherence mode that blends the two
desktops, and I truly have an almost seamless cross-platform environment.

That's the thing about the Intel Macs that a lot of people don't get -
they can do anything you want, regardless of platform. And it really
ticks me off that a lot of the people in my department (I work in IT)
have drunk deeply from the M$ Kool-aid and still ridicule my "toy Mac",
when I've shown them that it can run circles around their
single-function HP laptops, and loads and runs XP faster as well.
