Although I've taken employer's pay for various periods during that
time, I've been continuously self-employed since I was 17 years old.
My highest goal in working with a customer is to be educational about
whatever speciality of mine I'm assisting them with. If their desire
to dictate how I perform my services is greater than their openness to
learning something, I generally suggest they find someone else to help
them.

I guess this approach isn't for everyone, but why even be self-
employed if your customer won't let you select your own tools? I use a
certain tool for a reason -- it wasn't just the cheapest thing on the
shelf at Mall*Wart!
