Got this through SPT recently. Store your camera kits in a nice dry
place. This picture shows a Canon EOS 30D, where fungus started to
grown on the BACK of the IR filter.

Due to the way it's cemented in, IR filter is almost impossible to
replace separate from sensor. Some manufacturers won't even supply the
filter separately. Entire sensor replacement cost in this model mades
repair too expensive for this customer (in Australia).
