Take another look at the battery compartment, it's clean, no corrosion at
all. Also make sure to tighten the battery door, to no avail. I noticed that
when the installed the door, the camera makes some chipping sound when the
door touches the base plate.

I guess the camera needs to see a doctor, I should have bought it heath
insurance.

PS:  making sure the bottom cover screws are tight may make the biggest
difference.
