Okay, lets see if I can do this. LOL
First, I applied noise reduction with Noise Ninja. And saved that image.
Then I duplicated the background layer and used the Multiply blend mode
to darken the image. I flattened the image and saved it separately. I
then duplicated the background layer again and again applied the
Multiply blend mode to darken the image even more. Again flattened the
image and saved as a separate image.
I opened the noise reduction image and duplicated the background layer.
I then selected the father and the kids and made a layer mask. I
applied the screen blend mode to brighten this layer.
Then I brought in the two dark images as layers with the darkest one on
top. I turned off the visibility of the darkest one and, on the lighter
one of the darker layers, made a rough selection of the sun glare in the
middle of the back and made a layer mask of it. I then touched it up
with the brush using black and white to paint with on the layer mask.
Then I turned on the visibility of the darkest one and did the same
thing with it.
After fooling around with the various layers, I then did a stamp visible
to make a new layer combining all the other layers and applied high pass
sharpening with soft light blend mode.
I hope that I got this straight and that it makes some semblance of
sense. For someone with the experience and knowhow, this would only
take a few minutes. For me, it takes longer and I do learn by my
mistakes. LOL
I have the psd file, but can't figure out how to post it so you can
download it. Maybe attache it to a private email? With layers it is
larger.
