Ah, definitely another factor involved. The Katz Eye functions more
like single-element lens than the native screen which acts like a
prism. With non-telecentric lenses, I would think the Katz Eye would
be a superior viewing experience, but would likely mess up the
exposure as the exposure sensor is not directly inline with the eye
position. Neither screen "scatters" the light in the same manner as a
standard ground-glass screen, but where the Katz Eye will defocus the
image (causing the image to move away from the eye position, the
microprism screen redirects the image away from the eye position.

I wouldn't think that it would be a significant contributor in this
case, but the 2X teleconverter changes everything about the optical
path.
