True (at least about the focal length) and often forgotten. There is no
optical substitute against extension, so when a Nikon or whatever user
claims superiority on behalf of his 300 mm IF lens close focusing abilities,
please remind him that at close focus he doesn't have a true 300 mm lens.
Same goes for many of todays macro-lenses.
