Never ascribe to malice that which can adequately be explained by stupidity.

In this case, I believe there's a much simpler explanation: Olympus has
concluded (rightly or wrongly) that there's little market for the OM system,
especially when it comes to making decisions such as how much money to put
into R&D. Why put money into developing a new camera body when there's no
market for it?

Whether or not Olympus is correct, the facts allow a much more charitable
view than yours of the situation.
