: The first edition was published in 1975. My book, (and soon to be
: Skip's), English, second edition, 1977-78 is 350 pages, not 248, so I'd think
: it's not the same book. The publisher was, believe it or not- Olympus
: Optical Co. Hamburg.

I do believe it now because I think I traced the original German edition. I have
a German book called "Edition 6 Olympus - Das Lexikon des OM-Systems" (Lexicon
of the OM System) published by Olympus Optical Co. Europe in Hamburg, 1983. It
doesn't mention wether or not it's the first print.
At the end of the book there's a page showing five other parts in this "Edition
Olympus" series:

part 2: "Alles ueber die XA" (Everything about the XA);
part 3: "Faszination der Nahaufnahme" (Fascination of close-up photography);
part 4: "Die Welt des OM-Systems" (The World of OM-Systems);
part 5: "Blitzfotografie ohne Grenzen" (Flash photography without limits);
part 7: "OM-10 und OM-10 Quart Data".

Whatever happened to part 1 remains a mystery and so are the years in which the
various parts were first published. All parts except 6 (the one I have) are
written by Franz Pangerl. The English book must be a translation of (or based
on) part 4 and the Dutch book I have must be a compilation of parts 4 and 7.
It does seem Olympus Germany was quite busy with publishing at that time; the
book also mentions two photo catalogues: "Die Cameras im OM Systems" and "Die
Sucher-Cameras" and a quarterly appearing magazine "Olympus Magazine"
(abbreviated to OM).
Those were the days...
