I have heard that there are many high end studio digital cameras using
different mounts. I
have seen promo material for the Horseman that is basically a specially
designed view camera
for use with 35mm lenses capable of doing some significant tilt & swivels. And
yes it says
that the system can be ordered with an OM mount. You can either get a film
back or digital
back. But this baby is damn expensive. I wonder if they sold any with OM
mounts. Also I
remember a digital studio camera which uses a CMOS array and was told that it
can be adapted
for use with almost any 35mm mount using a C mount adapter. It was designed to
use this
adapter. BTW this company was making the Leaf digital studio camera. So
good point.
Maybe there is hope for us Zuikolics in the digital age. I figure I have close
to $4000 in
replacement costs of Zuiko glass. Maybe when one of these systems gets more
affordable I
will be equipped with excellent high quality glass. I see no reason why a
quality digital
back should cost over $1000 within the next couple of years.
Oh, yes Tom I do believe the Nikon D1 is a single chip. I've heard mixed
reviews on it.
Most say the system operates exceptionally well but picture quality although
not bad does
have pixel bleed. It's really an entry level professional journalist or press
camera
designed for electronic news gathering. Even at five grand it is cheap
compared to the 24
grand Kodak/Nikon 560. Even large companies don't like spending $24,000 on a
piece of field
equipment. Soon we will see these cameras with a micro wave antenna designed
to process
information to a satellite uplink vehicle ... just like broadcast video
cameras. So look
for extremely high quality stills on the ABC News and CNN pages as an event is
actually
happening. New tools for a digital age.
