It won't be obviously out of range, and you're not obligated to pay
it.
Depending on the scratch, I'm not sure it IS out of range. I paid
$650 for a 16 in pristine condition (from a list member - don't know
or care what he paid for it), so a $100 discount for a scratch might
be fair if the scratch didn't noticeably alter image quality.
