Not a lot. I did a little calculation: The difference between the f1.8 and the
f1.2 is 1.17 "stops" where one "stop" is a change in f ratio of 1.41421. The
f numbers are dimensionless ratios, so I put them on a logarithmic scale,
and compare the logarithmic distance from 1.8 to 1.4 to the logarithmic
distance from 1.2 to 1.4, and express this in "stops". Then taking current
prices for the f1.8 at $30, the f1.4 at $90, and the f1.2 at $380, we get

f1.8 to f1.2 = 1.17 stop for $350 = $299 per stop
f1.8 to f1.4 = 0.725 stop for $60 = $83 per stop
f1.4 to f1.2 = 0.444 stop for $290 = $653 per stop

So you pay a lot for that last little bit of light! The list member
responses, and this calculation have sobered me up enough to
be happy with an f1.4. So does anyone have a good one?
