Forget the term. I imply a shade on the light that prevents much light
falling on your [black] background, however that shade is made. It can
be a long tube, flapping pieces of cardboard or metal on each side of a
light [barn doors] -- whatever one can contrive to prevent light
spilling where you do not want it to go.
