Financial advisor..... they seem to get their percentage whichever way the
market goes.

Accountancy is no bad trade either lo. Most accountants are employed to
count the pennies earned and calculate the taxmans cut so there is always
work.

I'm not happy in my day job. Almost finished with my 4 year IT degree, I'm
cleaning mailing lists and doing light database maintenance. I've been
looking through the job ads. Unless you're a network admin, there are no
jobs in IT in Cincinnati. No entry-level jobs, no mid-level jobs, certainly
no jobs for COBOL mainframe skills, no jobs for project leaders.

But, lo, everyone needs accountants. There are entry-level data entry jobs,
mid-level jobs using PC software for small companies (where they seem to be
called "bookkeepers"), really good jobs for people with a 4 year degree in
accounting, and even several jobs for the top of the heap: CPAs and people
familiar with adherence to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

I think I'm gonna switch. What say ye?
