You might want to consider this carefully because even very good AF does not work so well is some situations, macro for instance. There will be times when focus is critical to the image and you will want to do it manually.

If focus is the only problem maybe you could try on those drugstore glasses that are clearly marked as to diopter until you find a correction that lets you focus clearly at 1 meter. Then you would know the correct diopter for your camera.
