...and don't forget:  the basic Vivitar 283 
design is 30 years old!  The first 283 appeared 
around 1975.  Its design is nearly unchanged, 
besides switching to low voltage triggering 
sometimes.  Compare that to todays 
dispose-with-empty-AA-cells design of modern 
equipment ...
