Well, I occasionally use my 24/2.8 on the E-1. The image format
is pretty much like a 50mm on an OM. However, not quite.

The effective focal length "doubles" when you compare diagonal
measurements. However, if you compare "short-side" measurement,
it's closer to 1.8x. In fact, short-side sensor measurement is
nearly identical to that of the C*non Digital Rebel--just 1.5mm
different, I think.

I mention this, because for many of us, it's the "short-side"
measurement which is the limiting factor. If I am making an
8x10 print for a customer, it doesn't matter what the length of
the sensor is (long-side) or the diagonal measurement is. It's
the shortest-side measurement which matters most. Those who
shoot panaramas would be most concerned with long-side
measurement.

Anyway, why this matters in focal-length calculation, is that
the diagonal coverage of 14mm in the E-system is about the same
as the diagonal coverage of 28mm in OM system. But the vertical
coverage of a 14mm lens in the E-system is about the same as the
vertical coverage of a 24mm lens in the OM system. If you have
the 7-14mm lens, you'll find that the vertical coverage is
similar to that of a 11mm lens (not 14mm) in an OM system.
