Not with poplars - they are really dreadful wood. You may as well
burn balsa. We have the River Red Gum (E. camaldulensis) which
coppices nicely and is extremely good firewood, as well as good
railway sleepers (ties) and furniture timber if you can find enough
clear pieces without resin faults.
