Big companies are paid millions of dollars to locate in communities or
states that have rich industrial development funds. A chicken and turkey
plant in SW Missouri near my father-in-law employees hundreds at below
poverty level wages thanks to state training funds and generous social
benefits like medical care and food stamps. They now expect the federal
government to subsidize roads for trucks (and don't anybody give me the fuel
tax crap, which doesn't cover much of the damage and required overdesign to
roads and bridges) and airports- heavily subsidized.
