Wayne, that sounds a little short for a macro.  I've used 50 and 60mm in Olympus and Leica-R lenses.

Talking about wide angle macro, many years ago I found an interesting

there might be a variant with OM mount but have never seen one since (in any
mount). Does anyone know anything about this lens ?

That is usually my preference too. Once in a while I like wide-angle
lenses for
close-ups, where I can get up close and personal and add some "placement"
for the subject. But for the most part, longer working distances are the
domain of longer focal lengths, which provide a much narrower and
selective
background. It's easier to declutter the image this way. The practical
issues of
not being quite as close to critters helps too.

For now I use my Zony zoom lens at 0.35x or PL 100-400 at 0.25x. The
Olympus 50-200mm f/2.8-3.5 ED SWD has 0.21x and worked good with the E-

I actually used the E-1 with 50-200 SWD combo last night! Yummy images,
but
I'm forgetting that the E-1 doesn't have heated seats, cruise-control, or
automatic transmission.
