[OM] "pro" metering?

Subject: [OM] "pro" metering?

"To me multi-spot metering seems more "pro" than any "don´t worry about
it" matrix metering."

It depends on how you define "pro" <grin>. Professional photographers
sometimes have to shoot under widely varying light conditions and expect
to get a near- perfect exposure without having to fuss with the camera.
If matrix (or more correctly, "evaluative") metering delivers those
results, then it's a good thing.

On the other hand... About two years ago Pop Photo ran a test comparing
several SLRs with evaluative metering. It turned out that none of them
did a particularly good job under difficult lighting conditions.

Remember that the multi-spot metering in the 4/4T is not a "pro" feature
-- it is a "creative" feature. As Olympus's literature points out, it
gives you creative control without losing automation. There are
significant psychological and aesthetic differences between turning the
exposure-compensation dial, and taking additional readings of specific
areas to bias the exposure.
