Geez, Got drag the soapbox out again.

Everyone!
I searched the archives and found Tom's first message to the list.

From: Tom Scales - January 20, 2000
"Well, I guess this seems like a reasonable time for me to stop lurking
and
jump in. I am a long-term OM user, starting with an OM1 and OM2 in the
mid-70s. Most of the equipment has been in the closet for little years
and
I've been digital for the last couple of years. I am purely an amateur,
taking many, many pictures of my children. Recently, my oldest starting
playing basketball, something for which digital is essentially useless.

So, out came the Olympus gear. I'm having great fun. Unfortunately,
I've
discovered ebay and have been adding to my Olympus collection. I
discovered
this list and have been truly enjoying 'listening in'. The mention of
selling to each other made me jump in. I am looking for a reasonably
priced
OM4t and to fill out my Zuiko lens collection. If anyone has anything
they
would be interested in selling, please reply to me privately and we can
talk.

Thanks for letting me read along (and interupt).

Tom"

Tom is not a "specialist OM equipment salesman"! Tom like many, many
others on this list, has rediscovered Olympus and appreciates the
quality and price/performance of the system. I have been on the list
since he introduced himself and I know he is not "in it for the money".
Tom's knowledge of Olympus/Zuiko has come from listening, asking
questions and availing himself to the knowledge base that some of the
List members have worked hard to put together and make availble to us
all.
Like many List members he buys and sells Olympus and Zuiko equipment.
Like all List members he is always on the look out for a great deal.
Hell, the List has even coined its own term for a great deal "fanged".
Like most List members he has followed the unwritten tradition of
"offering items for sale to the List first". Like a very, very few List
members he has loaned his equipment to members of the List. Loaning
equipment to people he has never met, except to exchange email! That's
practially unheard of in this day and age. In short, Tom Scales is an
intelligent, more than decent human being.

Okay, I've calmed down now. {Off the box}

I see the bottom line this way. We kid Tom and maybe we shouldn't. We
are all envious of Tom's collection, but how many members have LESS
equipment now than before they joined the List? (Those of us with
failing vision excluded). Perhaps, if we all listed the equipment we own
(with images), then I bet we would soon discover that we each have
something another member envies and desires.

Tom, I'm sorry to see the member's site go. But, I don't blame you one
damn bit.

Getting just a little tired of the CRAP.
