I suppose it is a matter of your perspective, but to my mind it does
spin the same direction, and is a stroke a brilliance! As long as you
turn each ring the same number of clicks (stops) the same direction,
your exposure is equivalent. Makes it easy to change speed or f-stop and
keep the same exposure value. I suspect this is what Miatani had in mind.

Some old rangefinders were set up similar to this. If I recall correctly the aperture and shutter speed were even coupled, once you set the EV you could change both at once.

I am curious why you would want it to go the other way.
