Sorry if I took it the wrong way. You are right that the list has always
been chatty, but it just seems a bit "over the top" as of late. But you
are right, this is off topic and it is probably time to get back to the
OMs. I am going to hang around still but may do a bit more lurking as
some home projects are calling.

I've been on this list off and on since near the beginning. It has always been
a chatty list. To me, that's part of its appeal.
There have been long discussions about it, calls for moderation, etc. but it
seems to be what it is -- a group of people with wide-ranging interests and
strong opinions. IMHO, it starts to get a bit sterile when everyone sticks to
re-hashing which 50/1.8 lenses had which coating, etc.
Again, I apologize for any perceived nastiness, and hope you don't leave.
