You can probably borrow an E-1 if need be.

Will zooming in on image-review reveal the spots? As aweful as
the zoom/review function is in the E-1 I can spot my spots.

Well, I believe that we are able to get away with it in the E-1
because the dust-shaker membrane is farther from the surface of
the CCD and any microdust would just be out of focus. Get far
enough away and it would have to be a pretty big lump to be
visible. The 5D's AA/IR filter appears to be thinner than
previous models and as such the dust is closer to the CMOS
itself and would be more likely to show up.

I still go back to my earlier theory of shutter curtain
grounding. With the 5D the shutter blades may be getting a
static charge building up on them which would attract dust
particles within the mirror chamber. During exposure, the dust
would shake off the curtain blades and some would be attracted
to the sensor. Me thinks that if you can keep the shutter
curtain static free that the sensor will stay cleaner.

It's entirely possible that the dust-shaker is just a
red-herring. Maybe the way Olympus is less bothered by dust is
the more distant membrane in front of the CCD and a better
shutter curtain design.

Think about it. The shutter curtain (blades) have the sensor
protected by dust all except for the short duration of the
exposure. Unless you frequently do 30 second exposures, there
isn't enough time for dust to migrate to a sensor. It has to be
the shutter causing the problem.
