Thanks for mentioning the delay problem which I forgot. I discovered
recently that the cheap radio slave triggers from eekbay are too slow to
support the 1/200 sync speed on the 5D and I had to drop down to 1/160.
At 1/200 I get a thin black bar about 10% of the image height. Since
Oly DSLR's sync at 1/180 they might work OK. If I really needed 1/200
for some reason I'd probably just take the 10% image height loss and
factor it into the composition.

I have seen claims at the Chinese manufacturer's web site (name I can't
recall right now) that these cheapies support up to 1/1000 sync speed
but those claims, just like the range claims, fall short of reality.

I have used (but don't own) Pocket Wizards which also claim high sync
speed compatibility but I have never tested them at 1/200.

I don't know what you mean by "conventional triggers" nor do I
understand what pre-flash has to do with radio slaves. I only associate
pre-flash with built-in flash on (mostly) P&S cameras. Is it used
elsewhere?

This reminds me that I have two different types of cheap radio slaves
and I only saw the sync speed problem with one of them. Now I can't
remember which one it was and I intended to do some testing to determine
which one it was or if both of them have a limitation or perhaps even
just a sample variation (just like the max range shows considerable
sample variation). But moving has gotten much in the way of doing fun
stuff like that.
