The lesson to be learned here is to ask questions.  This is especially  
true when the description is lacking.
 
You might have asked: "Does the camera work as it was intended to  work?  
Is there any signs of abuse, such as, dropping, exposure to sand or  liquids? 
 Does the meter work properly?  Have you run any film thru  the camera? If 
so, how did they come out?"
 
On the lens.  "What is the mechanical condition?  Is the glass  clear and 
free of scratches, internal fungus, cleaning marks, etc.  Are  there any 
signs of abuse?  Does it function as it was intended to  function?" 
 
On either of these auctions the seller either didn't know what he was  
selling or he was a snake in the grass.  I'd guess he is reptilian.
 
Did you ask for a refund?
