It only resolves it as long as we are using Adobe Lightroom or
Photoshop to apply the correction. And this correction is only
possible in post and is completely up to the user to generate and use
correctly.
The old saying "you date your camera, you marry your lenses" has never
been more untrue than it is today. Modern lenses are very much mated
to a very short series of cameras. The manufacturers lose interest in
the older lenses very rapidly. They are sold, no more money can be
extracted from the customer for them, so why bother? Especially since
there have been three new versions of the same lens produced since
then.
Meanwhile, I'm happy as I have a means of profiling lenses that are
older than me on the latest/greatest cameras of any brand/model.
