Plenty? On a moonless (new moon) night,
you (I) can't see your (my) hand in front of your (my) face.
You must have some light pollution.

So, you stand there for a minute or two and, then turn the flashlight on?

Well, it depends upon what your back yard is I suppose.
If you have it clear-cut and bulldozed into a neatly groomed little patch of
grass
that you have paced off, that's one thing.

If you have 13 acres of not-exactly-flat mixed woods and grassy plains
and have only lived there two years, that is another.

Unless you have an absolute sense of direction, a "photographic memory" and,
have stepped off every inch, you still can walk directly into a fence post
or,
step into a former fence post hole (not to mention the thorn trees and
bushes).
None of which is good because at my place, like in space, no one can hear
you scream.

Ohh . A mini-mag light on a leather cord! Is that corinthian leather? :)
The only thing I like to keep around my neck is the soap in certain
circumstances :-)

Fine with me.

Yes, I have those also. They are nice for the 100' or so that they cover.
