I know you are enjoying your rant, and don't wish to spoil the fun...
:-) But what the heck, I enjoy a good rant too.

Just a bit of an exaggeration. To upgrade from my 300D would be less
than ONE THOUSAND bucks, not a FEW THOUSAND bucks. List price US$899,
which means about US$800 street. I don't claim that's as cheap as trying
a new film, only that you overstate the difference.

The more important point is that there is no need for me to upgrade.
Amazingly enough, my "old" 300D, STILL TAKES EXCELLENT PICTURES! Imagine
that!

Nor do I expect or want you to. None of that workflow, cost-benefit,
etc. etc. crap means anything compared to what one likes and is
comfortable with. I just wonder why you feel it necessary to rain on
others' digital parade. Is it really necessary to put others down for
you to feel good? If they like it, why not just wish them well and go on
with what you enjoy.

For myself, I have feet firmly planted in both camps, and am enjoying
myself.

And blessings on yours.
