My biggest issue is a mental block I have about whether I'm supposed to use
the "A" or "B" standard when punching down (it's almost always "B"). Our
house was built in '85, and while it has coax into every room for cable TV,
and several rooms are wired for a whole-house music system that never got
installed (I used some of it for the surround speakers in the living room -
conveniently runs from where the TV is to directly behind the couch), I
really wish that it had been built just a little later when people started
running CAT5 as a general rule. Fortunately, our basement isn't finished so
I am able to run the bundle of CAT6 from the "wiring closet" under the
basement stairs, along the main central support beam, and then fish it up
next to the TV cables into each room, but it's still a pain.

But my install is a bit more involved - I have two drops in my wife's
office (her Mac, and networked printer), I have four drops behind the
entertainment complex (smart TV, DVR, Mac Mini, Apple TV), two drops in the
bedroom (DVR, Apple TV), and then there's my office studio, which has seven
drops (Audio workstation, Windows workstation, Mac, ham radio PC, printer,
and two extras for testing/building). At some point, I may run one node out
into the garage to my workbench there.

Yes, I'm a nerd.
